What inspired you to launch your own website?
We were inspired by the work of the British craftsmen and their imaginative and innovative pieces. The craftsmen are so skilled and the resulting high quality of the goods is testament to all the years through which they have learned their respective trades.
How did you decide on a name for your website?
The website is named after the founder.
What makes it different from other, similar offerings?
We work closely with renowned British craftsmen and leading designers to bring you timeless classic and contemporary handcrafted pieces many of which you will not find elsewhere.Behind the majority of the products you will see on our website are the fruits of hard-learned skills and techniques that our crafts people have been taught through long apprenticeships in small family businesses and workshops. Some of the small workshop businesses have been existence for hundreds of years, with a number going back nearly 250 years.
What is your eventual goal? (To sell it, keep it for income, secure a book or other mainstream media deal?)
Annabel Chaffer will continue to design and make both in our own workshops and in other workshops with whom we contract, a wide range of goods to a very high design using the skills of our own craftsmen and craftswomen. Above all else, our Mission is to ensure that our customers have comfort in the knowledge that goods bought through Annabel Chaffer are of the highest standard. In addition, it is our continuing aim to ensure that we provide good 'old fashioned' Customer Service of the style and standard set by us over so many years.
If you had an unlimited development budget for development, how would you chae your site?ng
If we had an unlimited budget for development we would develope more in house designs and offer an aprenticeship.
If your site got really big, really quickly, would you be able to keep up with the demand?
If our site expanded very quickly we would be able to keep up with the demand.
What unexpected costs and headaches have you had to deal with?
Our biggest headache is finding more quality craftsmen who are able to supply us.The imports from the Far East has put many of the skilled craftsmen out of business.
