www.bebebottlesling.com provides unique gifts for moms of twins and triplets. We offer custom baby shirts and bibs with designs tailored for multiples. In addition we provide hands free baby bottle holders for bottle feeding when you need an extra set of hands. The bebe bottle sling is especially useful for moms of multiples and many have said it was a lifesaver. It is the only hands free bottle feeding product that teaches the baby how to hold the bottle.
What inspired you to launch your own website?
The website was launched after the invention of the bebe bottle sling. There were so many people interested in the product that we decided to offer it for sale on the internet. Since a large percent of our customers are moms of multiples, we added the multiples themed shirts and bibs to complement the bottle sling.
When did you launch your first website, and what was it?
The first website was designed by myself and it launched in early 2003. It had a different name but was for the same purpose.
How did you decide on a name for your website?
My web host suggested I pick something people could remember but we wanted a chic name. So we decided on bebe bottle sling for the product and www.bebebottlesling.com for the website name. Bebe means baby in many languages.
What makes it different from other, similar offerings?
The bebe bottle sling is the only hands free baby bottle holder that is suspended. Because of the design, it encourages babies to practice manipulating the bottle and in effect teaches them how to hold the bottle on their own.
What is your eventual goal? (To sell it, keep it for income, secure a book or other mainstream media deal?)
My goal is to sell the product in retail stores.
How does your investment of time and money balance against your success?
The time and money incurred are much higher than the profits. However I receive testimonials on a continual basis where moms claim it has been a lifesaver for them and how much it reduced their stress level. The testimonials coupled with the fact I know it is a very useful product keep me going.
If you had an unlimited development budget for development, how would you change your site?
I have just recently changed my site and am very pleased with it. However I am currently in the process of improving the look of the product and packaging in an attempt to get it into retail stores.
If your site got really big, really quickly, would you be able to keep up with the demand?
Yes.
What unexpected costs and headaches have you had to deal with?
Learning about Credit Card processing and unscrupulous people trying to take advantage of those new to it.
What has been your biggest challenge?
Marketing.
What method has been most successful for promoting your website?
High ranking on Google and Adwords.
How has running your website differed from your expectations?
I truly thought it would be much easier than it has turned out to be. There are so many things I still need to learn about selling on the internet.
How long have you run the site already, and how long will you continue to keep it up if you don't enjoy big gains in traffic, income or popularity?
As long as the product can pay for itself, then I will continue to sell it.
