Please give us a short summary of your website?
Baby Gift Basics is about creating memorable gift giving moments. You'll find a great selection of unique baby gift sets and personalized baby gifts. Babies can also cuddle up with our adorable teddy bears. And don't forget gifts for the new moms and siblings.
What inspired you to launch your own website?
I was laid off from my corporate job and it seemed like the right time to do something on my own.
When did you launch your first website, and what was it?
This is my first website, but I already have plans for a second.
How did you decide on a name for your website?
Well, we wanted to have Baby Gifts in the title because that is the primary product of the website, but it needed something more. Then we had to decide on something that we liked, but was also still available. Basics was chosen because we are going with a few basic categories of products. We are not trying to offer every type of baby gift out there.
What makes your website different from other, similar offerings?
Our website is for discerning gift givers who expect high quality gifts. We also believe in prompt, friendly customer service.
What is your eventual goal? (To sell it, keep it for income, secure a book or other mainstream media deal?)
Our eventual goal is to keep the website for income and maybe eventually hand it down in the family to the younger ones when they are ready.
If your site got really big, really quickly, would you be able to keep up with the demand?
We believe that if our site got really big, really quick, we would be able to keep up with demand. We have laid the ground work for automation and have partnered with manufacturers that can supply large demands.
What has been your biggest challenge?
So far, finding reputable manufactures of high quality products that meet the standards of our website has been the biggest challenge. For example, we have not been able to find new dad gifts for our website yet.
How has running your website differed from your expectations?
Truth be told, getting things going has been a little more difficult than anticipated both from a technical standpoint and marketing. But, with hard work, we are starting to see the rewards of our work and things that were once difficult, now come easily.
How long have you run the site already, and how long will you continue to keep it up if you don't enjoy big gains in traffic, income or popularity?
The site has been published for about six months now. We intend to keep the site up indefinitely as long as there are financial gains.
