Our Lady Catholic Gifts Interview

Name of your website?

Our Lady Catholic Gifts

Your name?

Dan Harris

Your Location (city, etc)

OFallon

Please give us a short summary of your website?

We feature unique Catholic gifts from around the world, specializing in hand crafted and hand painted resin religious statues from the Philippines. All of our Catholic statues are made by our niece (Sally) and her husband (Gough) in Bulacan, Philippines. Combined, they have over 20 years of experience producing these gorgeous pieces of art that all Catholics will surely love. In addition to our beautifully designed and crafted Catholic statues, we also offer several other traditional Catholic and religious gift items sure to please everyone's taste. We are sure you will love our Rosaries as well. We feature handcrafted Rosaries from Bethlehem, the place of Jesus birth, as well as Ladder Rosaries from Italy, the cradle of the Catholic faith. Rosaries from Bethlehem are made by skilled Christian artisans and come with a Certificate of Authentisity.

What inspired you to launch your own website?

We had been trying to get our statues imported into the United States, but with no success. So, we decided to start our own online business to share these statues with everyone. By increasing production of the statues, we help to support our family in the Philippines.

When did you launch your first website, and what was it?

This was our first web site. We launched about 3 weeks ago.

How did you decide on a name for your website?

The first two words of most of our Statues begin with "Our Lady" so we decided to use that as our theme.

What makes it different from other, similar offerings?

We are the only online Catholic store that we are aware of that offers hand made catholic statues from the Philippines. We also offer hand made rosaries from Bethlehem, as well as holy water from the Jordan River.

What is your eventual goal? (To sell it, keep it for income, secure a book or other mainstream media deal?)

The ultimate goal would be for this web site to grow to be able to support our family in the Philippines.

How does your investment of time and money balance against your success?

So far, we've invested much more time and money than what has returned. However, we remain confident that our efforts will be rewarded in the long run.

If you had an unlimited development budget for development, how would you change your site?

I would be advertising much, much more than I am now.

If your site got really big, really quickly, would you be able to keep up with the demand?

yes

What unexpected costs and headaches have you had to deal with?

I have not really experienced anything unexpected relating to costs, but as for a headache, just the amount of time and effort required to build and market a web site.

What method has been most successful for promoting your website?

To date, word of mouth and article submission have been most successful.

What is your website address?
