Only Cookware - A Cookware Consumer Guide Interview

By Interviewer at 10/03/07 22:49

Name of your website?

Only Cookware - A Cookware Consumer Guide

Your name?

Paula Carnogoy

Please give us a short summary of your website?

An unbiased consumer guide to cookware. Offering cookware reviews, information and advice to help the consumer choose and care for their cookware.

When did you launch your first website, and what was it?

I launched my first website back in 1994 and it was a simple little website relating to The X-Files which I was a big fan of.. and still am. Back then it was just grey backgrounds and blue hyperlinks. Things certainly have changed.

How did you decide on a name for your website?

The name was chosen firstly because it includes the word 'cookware' which is after all what our website is about. It is also short and snappy so can be remembered easily.

What makes it different from other, similar offerings?

We offer a unique personal perspective to ensure that the reader gets an unbiased opinion. With our cookware reviews for instance we attempt to show both the good and the bad based on our personal experience. We also offer a growing database of useful tips and hints to help the reader care for and use their cookware effectively.

What is your eventual goal? (To sell it, keep it for income, secure a book or other mainstream media deal?)

Our eventual goal is to provide the most authoritative website relating to cookware on the internet. We want to be where everyone heads to before they eventually decide on the cookware they are going to purchase.

If you had an unlimited development budget for development, how would you change your site?

We would try to include more content on a more regular basis and perhaps rework the template so we can get more information in and make it look a little more professional.

What has been your biggest challenge?

The biggest challenge is bringing in traffic. You can't just build a website and hope people will visit. Promotion is a key factor but we look for ways of promoting the website that don't cost a lot of money.

What method has been most successful for promoting your website?

We use various methods for promoting our website so it is difficult to determine which method has been better than others. Becoming involved in the community that you are in creates interest so posting in forums and on blogs that relate to our website theme seems to work well. We also look for ways of getting quality links to our site as this seems to be what Google is looking for when ranking websites.

How long have you run the site already, and how long will you continue to keep it up if you don't enjoy big gains in traffic, income or popularity?

This particular site has been running since about October 2006 but it is only since about May or June that we have really been focusing on this website. The traffic has doubled every month since then and looks to triple this month. We know that if we continue to provide quality information and promote the site that it will suceed so we will keep it up as long as possible.

What is your website address?
