ShopandSmell.com Interview

By Interviewer at 09/19/07 18:23

Name of your website?

ShopandSmell.com

Your name?

Christine Reeder

Your Location (city, etc)

Perry, Arkansas

Please give us a short summary of your website?

Online store with gourmet soy candles, melts, melting pots, bath and body products and other gift items for the home.

What inspired you to launch your own website?

To let people know about these super products.

When did you launch your first website, and what was it?

Many years ago I had a weight loss site--nomorechubby.com

How did you decide on a name for your website?

Something easy to remember.

What makes it different from other, similar offerings?

It has a great online store as well as a business opportunity if they are interested. These products have been around for years and have made a great name for themselves.

What is your eventual goal? (To sell it, keep it for income, secure a book or other mainstream media deal?)

Keep if for income--retirement in about 10 years. This will be my retirement job.

How does your investment of time and money balance against your success?

Right now it is going pretty well. Hope to really work hard at it when I retire from my corporate world job.

If you had an unlimited development budget for development, how would you change your site?

I cannot change the site I have but I do hope to build a more personal one in the future and maybe link to my present one.

If your site got really big, really quickly, would you be able to keep up with the demand?

Yes--my company is large scale and growing. They are constantly updating their site and products to keep up with supply and demand.

What unexpected costs and headaches have you had to deal with?

None to date.

What has been your biggest challenge?

Having enough time to market it.

What method has been most successful for promoting your website?

Word of mouth and magnetic signs on my car to send them to the website.

How has running your website differed from your expectations?

I was hoping for more online sales--but people are leary to order online--maybe someday people will feel more comfortable about it.

How long have you run the site already, and how long will you continue to keep it up if you don't enjoy big gains in traffic, income or popularity?

A little over two years and hope to have it for 20 plus more!

What is the best way to get traffic to my website?

This is something I would like to have help with. Thank you.

What is your website address?
