Dizzy Izzie Designs Interview

By Interviewer at 01/02/08 22:29

Name of your website?

Dizzy Izzie Designs

Your name?

Kimberly

Your Location (city, etc)

Tulsa

Please give us a short summary of your website?

Dizzy Izzie Designs specializes in Top Quality Boutique Hair Bows, Headbands, Tutu's, Children's Apparel and Accessories

What inspired you to launch your own website?

There is a lack of such products in this area and the ones that are obtainable are outrageously overpriced.

When did you launch your first website, and what was it?

Dizzy Izzie Designs is my first website. It has been up since October, but the shopping carts are just now being opened.

How did you decide on a name for your website?

We had a yorkshire terrier puppy (Isabella) that was diagnosed with a liver shunt. Before the diagnoses and treatment, she would at times stumble while walking and because of this, our family nicknamed her Dizzy Izzie. The site was named Dizzy Izzie Designs so that she would forever be remembered.

What makes it different from other, similar offerings?

Quality of products

What is your eventual goal? (To sell it, keep it for income, secure a book or other mainstream media deal?)

To make have a successful at home business that will help our family financially.

How does your investment of time and money balance against your success?

I feel that you must invest to see a return.

If you had an unlimited development budget for development, how would you change your site?

If budget were not an issue, the selection of products on the site would be enormous. There are so many things that I want to offer, but at this time do not have the finances to do so.

If your site got really big, really quickly, would you be able to keep up with the demand?

Most definately and it would be very rewarding.

What unexpected costs and headaches have you had to deal with?

The costs involved to obtain sufficient inventory was much larger than anticipated and trying to set the shopping cart to correctly calculate shipping costs has been a huge headache.

What has been your biggest challenge?

Obtaining quality photographs of inventory to place on site.

What method has been most successful for promoting your website?

Word of mouth

How has running your website differed from your expectations?

Despite producing products upon ordering, I have been surprised by the amount of samples/inventory required for display upon the site.

How long have you run the site already, and how long will you continue to keep it up if you don't enjoy big gains in traffic, income or popularity?

The site has been up for two months, but the shopping carts are just being launched. The site will remain for at least two years to gain exposure and if after this time there is not a profit being made from having it, it will be retired.

How do you plan to market your products?

I plan to continue by word of mouth and also plan to build a large enough inventory to sale at craft fairs later in the year.

What is your website address?
