Mama P Bows Interview

Name of your website?

Mama P Bows

Your name?

Ana

Your Location (city, etc)

Tucson

Please give us a short summary of your website?

Our website offers beautiful, high-quality, hand made hair bows, headbands, personalized bow holders, and personalized name plates for sale.

What inspired you to launch your own website?

I've been making hair bows for years and decided to start selling them. Due to the demand I launched a website to sell them (outside of friends and family).

When did you launch your first website, and what was it?

February 2007 Mamapbows.com

How did you decide on a name for your website?

The name of my company is Mama P Designs and this is the hair bow division. Mama P stands for the first letters of my name, my husband's name and our childrens' names.

What makes it different from other, similar offerings?

We offer bows at very affordable prices and are completely custom. We can match bows to special occasion dresses or people can choose colors and designs for everyday use. We also make custom bows for cheer teams, schools, and other sports teams.

What is your eventual goal? (To sell it, keep it for income, secure a book or other mainstream media deal?)

We plan to purchase a building with a showroom/store in the front and our bows will soon be sold in several specialty stores. We will build up our website as well to offer more products online.

How does your investment of time and money balance against your success?

This started out as an "on-the-side" job, but has become quite successful! It does take a lot of time.

If you had an unlimited development budget for development, how would you change your site?

Add more products with pictures that load instantly.

If your site got really big, really quickly, would you be able to keep up with the demand?

I will cross that bridge when I get to it.

What unexpected costs and headaches have you had to deal with?

Difficulty in finding exactly the right supplies when needed.

What has been your biggest challenge?

Keeping up with paperwork.

What method has been most successful for promoting your website?

Word of mouth, repeat customers who tell their friends, lettering on my vehicle.

How has running your website differed from your expectations?

I didn't realize how much space pictures take up.

How long have you run the site already, and how long will you continue to keep it up if you don't enjoy big gains in traffic, income or popularity?

Indefinitely

What do you enjoy about your business?

I love being creative and seeing cute bows on my daughter and other girls - I wish every little girl wore bows in their hair!! That is why I make mine affordable! I also love that I have my friends working for me who are also moms!!

What is your website address?
