Online retail store- Unique home decor and gifts, all handcrafted by master craftpersons of India.
What inspired you to launch your own website?
To bring the buyer and craftpersons closer so that both get an added advantage.
How did you decide on a name for your website?
MIME stands for "silent performance". The art and handicrafts also perform silently.
What makes it different from other, similar offerings?
We source unique products directly from artisans. Hence the buyer gets exclusive products at very genuine prices.
What is your eventual goal? (To sell it, keep it for income, secure a book or other mainstream media deal?)
Integerating close links between buyer and artisans. Promoting more buying and more creation of handicrafts.
How does your investment of time and money balance against your success?
Positive growth...slow and steady.
If you had an unlimited development budget for development, how would you change your site?
I will go for increasing the products and range. The more and more artisans get involved and organised, the more and more their potential grows.
If your site got really big, really quickly, would you be able to keep up with the demand?
Sure! The artisans need to be organized and get their genuine dues...there are thousands of them.
What has been your biggest challenge?
To start an ecommerce site with a minimum budget.
What method has been most successful for promoting your website?
Word of mouth by delivering excelent products & services.
How has running your website differed from your expectations?
No.
How long have you run the site already, and how long will you continue to keep it up if you don't enjoy big gains in traffic, income or popularity?
Since 10 months...will keep it at least 4 years more.
