We are an online retailer of quality merchandise manufactured in Asia. Based in Thailand we can offer a wide range of products at very low cost to our customers. We sell Motor sports apparel, Racing Team Jackets, Pit Crew Shirts, T Shirts, Hooded Rock Sweaters, Designer Belts, Sunglasses, Hello Kitty and much more. We can also offer wholesale prices on all of our merchandise.
What inspired you to launch your own website?
Being Thrown out of Ebay so many times
When did you launch your first website, and what was it?
About one year ago.I'm a bit of a computer geek and living in Thailand with very low prices,A lot of spare time and some web design software the idea just seemed to develop.It was an html designed shop but very basic.
How did you decide on a name for your website?
Siamshop? Well living in Thailand that should be obvious its the old name of Thailand.
What makes it different from other, similar offerings?
Well it constantly changing more products, better customer contact better software.We recently added a live help desk and partnered with a dating site.
What is your eventual goal? (To sell it, keep it for income, secure a book or other mainstream media deal?)
I see it more as a hobby than anything else it's nice to make money but it is not the driving force.
How does your investment of time and money balance against your success?
Very poor up until now but if your not in you can't win.
If you had an unlimited development budget for development, how would you change your site?
More interaction with the customer.The Web and the possibilities are changing so quickly I would like to keep pace with it.
If your site got really big, really quickly, would you be able to keep up with the demand?
Yes we do a lot of our selling on ebay so the structure already exists
What unexpected costs and headaches have you had to deal with?
Not many mostly software problems but I enjoy solving them so no headaches
What has been your biggest challenge?
Answering the first mail after the first sale.
What method has been most successful for promoting your website?
SEO getting placed better by the search engines and finding the merchandise thats not so ready available elsewhere.It's always a question of supply and demand.
How has running your website differed from your expectations?
I thought open the website and the sales would come but its not like that there is actually a steep learning curve and new opportunities to develop the site seem to come regularly.
How long have you run the site already, and how long will you continue to keep it up if you don't enjoy big gains in traffic, income or popularity?
As I said it's more of a hobby than a money machine.I get a sense of satisfaction when I see one of my pages on the top of Google I've been running it for about 6 months now with some success. I do need some type of positive feedback to enjoy and keep working on the Web but I can handle a few setbacks.
