Secret Treasures99 carries a large selection of products in one super online store.
What inspired you to launch your own website?
Actually, because I have so many Grandkids, that shopping was too expensive and exhausting, so now I shop from home and save. I'm disabled and have trouble walking.
When did you launch your first website, and what was it?
This is my first website.
How did you decide on a name for your website?
With so many products, I thought that they were treasures, so that's how Secret Treasures99 came about.
What makes it different from other, similar offerings?
I hope my prices. I try to keep my prices as low as possible. I figure that lower prices should give me more buyers.
What is your eventual goal? (To sell it, keep it for income, secure a book or other mainstream media deal?)
To make enough to cover advertising and give me a little extra in the pocket book.
How does your investment of time and money balance against your success?
Not very good right now. My investment has to be kept low because my income is low.
If you had an unlimited development budget for development, how would you change your site?
I would use the money for advertisement. To get your store in the top rankings, it takes a lot of money. That's what I lack at the moment.
If your site got really big, really quickly, would you be able to keep up with the demand?
Sure, my products are shipped from the warehouse. A person orders and pays on my website. Once the payment is approved, I submit the order and it gets shipped. I don't have to carry inventory, though I do keep some on hand.
What unexpected costs and headaches have you had to deal with?
The technical things for getting page rankings, etc. Computers are not like the ones I used years ago before they started to get into homes. Without a college programmer, I'm lost. Everything I read about, I basically have to do trial and error technics. The terminology is hard too. Trying to understand what someone is talking about, makes it very hard to figure out what they are talking about.
What has been your biggest challenge?
Getting my store in the top page rankings.
What method has been most successful for promoting your website?
I have a talking host on my site. Also the streams, I purchase and my Google Adwords. Banners and Links don't do so well. I don't know how to promote them other than if someone clicked on them from my site.
How has running your website differed from your expectations?
I enjoy running my website. I like to write ads and go to all the different websites. It's quite a learning experience. I would like more sales though.
How long have you run the site already, and how long will you continue to keep it up if you don't enjoy big gains in traffic, income or popularity?
It's been up for 1 year and hope to keep it going as long as I live. I really like it.
